Where it works

Seven sea slugs in Haeckel's plate, frilled in coral, yellow, blue and brown with branching gills, loose on a white page. Light and odd, it suits a bathroom, a child's room or a dresser wall at 12×18 in natural wood, paired with his Starfish.

Style, size & framing detail

Style: Antique natural-history plate
Era: 1899–1904 (Haeckel)
Orientation: Portrait
Palette: coral, butter yellow, cornflower blue, white
Mood: playful, fresh
Rooms: bathroom, kids room, hallway or entryway

Size. We'd hang this one at 12×18. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.

Framing. The label ground is its own mat: a slim black or natural wood frame, no extra mat.

Pairing. Hangs alone or as a matched pair; three or more prints are 10% off.
