Where it works

Passmore's 1897 English Morello plate pairs two dark red sour cherries with their halves, one with a small green leaf, labeled in her hand beside the Hoagy. The annotated two-cultivar study suits a kitchen or study at 12×18 in natural wood, beside the Early Morello.

Style, size & framing detail

Style: Vintage botanical watercolour
Era: 1886–1942 (USDA watercolours)
Orientation: Portrait
Palette: red, burgundy, cream
Mood: nostalgic, fresh
Rooms: kitchen, study or library
Good gift for: cooks

Size. We'd hang this one at 12×18. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.

Framing. A slim black or natural wood frame right to the plate edge; the plate's own margin frames the subject. Also available gallery-wrapped on canvas, ready to hang with no frame.

Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other kitchen prints (10% off three or more).
