Where it works

Deborah Griscom Passmore's Corsican lemon, 1899, a large, knobbly, deeply textured fruit in saturated yellow, with a halved section below showing pale segments and seeds. Its brightness suits a bathroom or laundry room at 12×18 in a black frame, next to the smoother Eureka lemon.

Style, size & framing detail

Style: Vintage botanical watercolour
Era: 1886–1942 (USDA watercolours)
Orientation: Portrait
Palette: yellow, gold, cream
Mood: fresh, bold
Rooms: bathroom
Good gift for: cooks

Size. We'd hang this one at 12×18. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.

Framing. The label ground is its own mat: a slim black or natural wood frame, no extra mat.

Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other kitchen prints (10% off three or more).
