A company of men in festival dress walks along a shopping street carrying a decorated standard hung with long coloured streamers, while the shop curtains behind them alternate deep indigo and red, each marked with a large white crest. A signboard hangs at the upper left and the street recedes under a clear sky. The print is number seventy-four in One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, published by Uoya Eikichi, with a censor's seal of the seventh month of 1858. Ōdenma-chō was a district of wholesale textile merchants, and Hiroshige returned to it for two prints in the series. The figures are drawn large and close, more like a scene from daily life than a landscape; impressions vary in colour and condition.
This full-bleed edition prints the work edge to edge from a high-resolution scan of the original, very slightly cropped (a few percent at most) to fit the sheet. The gallery edition shows the whole work, uncropped. The original is in the public domain.
