A full moon hangs in a deep blue night sky over the wooden Kyōbashi bridge, where a line of people crosses with lanterns, and along the left bank tall stacks of bamboo poles rise in dark, jagged silhouettes. Below, a boatman poles a small boat with a yellow load across the river. The print is number seventy-six in One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, published by Uoya Eikichi, with a censor's seal of the twelfth month of 1857. The quay beside Kyōbashi was the bamboo merchants' landing, where poles were stacked upright along the bank. The night is printed in rich blues with the moon left as a plain round of paper; impressions vary in colour and condition.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
