Mount Fuji rises so tall that its snowy peak breaks through the top edge of the picture, its slopes faintly pink against a red band of morning sky, with a darker, jagged peak at its side. Below, two women in blue travelling clothes and a manservant carrying their boxes walk a path beside the rice fields, where a pair of cranes stand in the marsh. The print is number fourteen in the Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō, published by Hōeidō (Takenouchi Magohachi) in 1833–34. Hara, the thirteenth station, lay on the flat plain south of Fuji, and from here the mountain filled the view across the fields; impressions vary in colour and condition.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.
Where it works
A pale pink Fuji over cream fields, with blue-clad travellers and two cranes, for a living room, bedroom or study at 24×16 in natural wood. It pairs with Yoshiwara: Mount Fuji on the Left, the next station's view of the mountain.

Size. We'd hang this one at 24×16. Prints at 18×12, 24×16 in — 18×12 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 24×16 above a console or sideboard.
Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — natural wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
