Paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Works from the Met's collection, reproduced from the museum's own open-access scans.

6 prints · printed to order on heavyweight matte paper · framed or unframed

The collection

The Met was founded in 1870 and has stood on Fifth Avenue at the edge of Central Park since 1880. Its two million objects span five thousand years, and in 2017 it placed images of every public-domain work in its collection under a Creative Commons Zero licence, which is why its scans are the cleanest and highest-resolution sources we have. Several of the paintings here were reproduced directly from them.

The works here

Hokusai's Under the Wave off Kanagawa, the Met's impression; Cézanne's The Card Players; Degas's The Dance Class; Winslow Homer's The Gulf Stream; Sargent's Madame X; Modigliani's Reclining Nude.
