Art style quiz: what art suits you and your home?
Seven questions: the room, the colour of the walls, three rounds of real paintings and prints to choose between, the feel you want, and what sits below the art. You get one of nine art styles, twelve works chosen for that room and wall colour, and a ready set of three sized for your furniture.
Question 1 of 7
Which room is the art for?
The nine art styles
The Naturalist
Birds, botanicals and the patient eye of the field naturalist.
The Light-Seeker
Sunlight on water, poppies in a field, a parasol against the sky.
The Minimalist
A wave, a mountain, rain in a single line: the Japanese art of leaving things out.
The Collector
Old Masters, candlelight and the quiet authority of a museum room.
The Modernist
Colour and shape for their own sake: abstraction from Kandinsky to now.
The Poster Hound
Lettering, dancers and the great advertising art of Paris and the parks.
The Dreamer
Gold, dusk and a little mystery: the Symbolists and Romantics.
The Wanderer
Big skies, rivers and the sea: landscape painting at its widest.
The Curious Mind
Anatomy plates, star maps and the beauty of how things work.
How the quiz chooses
- Each picture you pick counts for the style it belongs to; the feel you want adds a little more. Your style is the one with the most points; the runner-up adds a few picks.
- Every style is a set of our real collections (Impressionism, ukiyo-e, the natural-history plates and so on), so the picks are works we print, never a generic mood board.
- The room narrows the choice to works that suit it; a child's room only ever shows works chosen for children. The wall colour leans the picks towards colours that read well against it.
- The set of three is sized for your furniture with the same rule as the art size calculator: two-thirds to three-quarters of its width.

Questions
What are the nine art styles?
The Naturalist, the Light-Seeker, the Minimalist, the Collector, the Modernist, the Poster Hound, the Dreamer, the Wanderer and the Curious Mind. Each has its own page with the works that define it.
How long does the quiz take?
About a minute: seven taps, no typing and no sign-up.
Can I mix styles in one room?
Yes. Most good rooms have one leading style and one supporting one; your result shows both. Keep one frame colour and even gaps and different styles hang together.
Does the wall colour really matter?
It changes which colours stand out. Warm colours read strongly on cool walls and the reverse; a picture in the same colour as its wall tends to disappear.
