The Minimalist
A wave, a mountain, rain in a single line: the Japanese art of leaving things out.
You like space around a picture and a picture with space inside it. Japanese woodblock prints do more with less than any art in the catalogue: flat colour, one strong line, weather you can feel.
They sit well in quiet rooms with pale walls and natural materials, and they look right small or large.
Twelve prints to start with
A ready set of three
Three 16 × 24 in prints, 3 in apart: 54 in across, sized for a sofa of 84 in by the two-thirds rule. With three prints, 10% comes off automatically.
What to look for
Hokusai's Great Wave and Fuji views, Hiroshige's Tōkaidō and Edo series, Kōno Bairei's birds and our zen prints.
How to hang it
A vertical pair in a hallway, or three landscape prints from one series above a sofa. The art size calculator works out the size for your furniture, and the gallery wall planner marks every nail.
