The 12 we’d start with, and who each one suits.

Redouté's violet-crimson Provence rose on a pale ground keeps a bedroom soft and romantic, centred above a linen headboard or dressing table.

Moon phases ringed around the earth on a mauve-pink field: a gentle celestial piece for above the bed in a calm, pastel bedroom.

For a dark, cocooning bedroom: a gold-line maidenhair fern on midnight navy glows softly against deep blue or charcoal walls.

Thornton's blue passion flowers sprawling over dark foliage suit a moody, green-walled bedroom where evening lamplight warms the shadows.

No subject, no hard edges, only aqua and violet glows on dusky plum, which makes it a quiet wall to fall asleep facing.

One cream magnolia bloom on a restored plate brings a hint of the garden to a guest room or a white, airy bedroom.

Trouvelot's grey close-up of the moon's craters is a calm, near-monochrome choice for a minimalist bedroom with stone or white walls.

Blush pink, with Lavandula set in italic serif above a tiny sprig, this sits sweetly over a nightstand or hung as a pair.

Pink-and-green speckled parrot lilies on a warm, aged page add colour to a cream bedroom without breaking its restful mood.

A rust doe watching over her spotted fawn in flowered grass, a tender choice for a shared bedroom or a child's room.

Four ferns compared on pale sage, quiet and orderly, for a Scandinavian-style bedroom or a gallery of botanicals above the bed.

Against Thornton's dark, dramatic landscape, pink shooting-star flowers rise on one stem: atmospheric for a bedroom painted deep green or slate.

What belongs above a bed
The bedroom is the one room where art should lower the pulse. Three families do it reliably: star maps — gold constellations on deep midnight navy, personal if you pick your sign; soft herbarium botanicals; and the calmer abstracts — boho suns, muted geometry, single-line studies. Save the loud maximalist pieces for the living room.
Sizing the bed wall
Over a queen or king bed, one 24×36 centred, or a row of three 16×24s spanning roughly the headboard's width, both work. Hang the bottom edge 8–10 inches above the headboard. A matched trio — three constellations, three botanicals — is the easiest way to make the wall feel finished, and three or more prints take 10% off automatically.
