Gifts for Anglers & Fishermen
His fish, exactly. Sherman Denton painted the game fish of North America from freshly caught specimens for the New York state fish commission in the 1890s — brook, brown and rainbow trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, pike and muskellunge, walleye, landlocked salmon — and they are still the best fish pictures ever made. Alongside them, Bloch's 1780s fishes: carp, perch, pike, mackerel, the bluefin.

Match the water
A trout angler gets the brook trout (the one with the vermilion spots) or the cutthroat; the bass boat gets the largemouth; the northern lakes the pike, muskie and walleye; the salt-water rod the striped bass, bluefish or red snapper. Each print carries the species and the source plate. Getting the species right is the whole gift.
Where fish prints hang
The cabin, the lake house, the study, the garage office, the bar. The Denton plates are landscape-orientation (18×12 to 36×24) — made for the wide wall over a desk or a sofa. A trio — three trout, or trout, bass and pike — is the classic lodge arrangement, and three or more take 10% off.
