Marcello, Musetta, Mimì and Rodolfo meet at the toll gate in the snow in the third act of Puccini's opera, a bare tree and a tavern wall behind them, under the lettering "La Bohème de G. Puccini" and the name of the publishers G. Ricordi & C. Hohenstein designed the poster in 1896 for the opera's first production at the Teatro Regio in Turin and the publication of its score; this is the French edition printed for Ricordi's Paris office. Hohenstein, Ricordi's artistic director, also designed the sets and costumes of the first production. The impression reproduced is in the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
This full-bleed edition prints the work edge to edge from a high-resolution scan of the original, very slightly cropped (a few percent at most) to fit the sheet. The gallery edition shows the whole work, uncropped. The original is in the public domain.
