A young woman with bow and quiver, her dress slipping from her shoulders, swoops across a burst of red and blue while a devil reading the paper writes with a quill behind her. Jules Chéret designed the poster in 1891 for Le Courrier Français, the illustrated Paris weekly that published Willette, Forain and Lautrec. The figure is made of his loose sprays of overlapping colour. Printed by Chaix; the impression reproduced is in the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
Where it works
