Where it works

The Poissons chart from the Nouveau Larousse: forty fish from a sunfish and a lionfish to a flounder and an eel, in grey, ochre and blue on cream with a French key. It suits a kitchen, a bathroom or a lake-house hallway at 16×24 in natural wood.

Style, size & framing detail

Style: Antique natural-history plate
Era: 19th century
Orientation: Portrait
Palette: cream, grey, ochre, cornflower blue
Mood: scholarly, nostalgic
Rooms: kitchen, bathroom, hallway or entryway

Size. We'd hang this one at 16×24. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.

Framing. Choose Full-bleed for the plate edge to edge in a slim black or natural wood frame, or the White-mat border for a classic gallery look. Also available gallery-wrapped on canvas, ready to hang with no frame.

Pairing. Hangs alone or as a matched pair; three or more prints are 10% off.
