Rectangles and bars in red, yellow, black, pink and pale blue float diagonally across a white ground, with a blue crescent at upper right, a small green disc at left and clusters of thin lines and tiny planes trailing toward the lower right, like objects scattered through space. There is no ground line and no perspective; scale and colour alone suggest depth. Malevich painted it in 1916, a year after the Petrograd exhibition at which he introduced Suprematism with his Black Square, and it belongs to the more complex compositions of that year, in which many forms move together along a dominant diagonal. He described such pictures as glimpses of a weightless, infinite white space. It is in the State Russian Museum in St Petersburg.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.

Size. We'd hang this one at 16×24. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.
Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — natural wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
