Two women in long dresses stand far apart in a misty green meadow, one holding out a hand, the whole picture a haze of soft greens. Dewing's 'decorations' of women in dreamlike landscapes were among the most admired American pictures of the 1890s and are the purest examples of Tonalism. This one is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
Where it works
A soft, misty green meadow for a bedroom, bathroom or reading room in a thin black frame. It suits sage, pale green or white walls and is deeply calming.
