A wide, pale beach curves along the shore below a wooded headland, with low waves breaking at the left, and beyond the dark green trees Mount Fuji rises white above the sea mist. A few roofs sit among the trees on the hill at the right. The print belongs to Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, published around 1830–1832 by Nishimuraya Yohachi (Eijudō). Shichirigahama, the seven-ri beach, runs along the coast of Sagami province near Kamakura. The open sand and sky give this one of the calmest designs in the series; impressions vary in colour and condition.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
