The collection
The Mauritshuis is a seventeenth-century town palace built for Johan Maurits of Nassau, and since 1822 it has housed the Dutch Royal Cabinet of Paintings: around 850 works, nearly all Golden Age, in rooms small enough that Girl with a Pearl Earring is seen from a few feet away.
The works here
Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and View of Delft; Rembrandt's The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp.
