Where it works

Haeckel's sea snails: a large frilled murex at the center with eight spired and spiny shells around it, drawn in white and grey on black. A print for a coastal bathroom, a hallway or a study at 16×24 in a black frame, in a trio with his Sea Urchins and Corals.

Style, size & framing detail

Style: Antique natural-history plate
Era: 19th century
Orientation: Portrait
Palette: black, grey, white
Mood: sophisticated, graphic

Size. We'd hang this one at 16×24. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.

Framing. Choose Full-bleed for the plate edge to edge in a slim black or natural wood frame, or the White-mat border for a classic gallery look. Also available gallery-wrapped on canvas, ready to hang with no frame.
