The collection
The Kunsthistorisches Museum opened on the Ringstrasse in 1891 to house the Habsburg collections, and its picture gallery holds the largest group of Bruegels in the world, twelve paintings, gathered by Rudolf II and his successors. Vermeer's The Art of Painting, which the painter never sold, came to Vienna in 1813.
The works here
Bruegel's Hunters in the Snow and The Tower of Babel; Vermeer's The Art of Painting.
