Where it works
Edwards's 1814 Yulan magnolia is a landscape plate: creamy white blooms and one bud beside a single green leaf, set on a cream ground with a typeset label. Hung wide at 16×24 in natural wood, it suits a bedroom over a dresser with white walls, beside the Japanese Camellia.
