The Eiffel Tower rises in orange, red and yellow girders from the lower right, tilted across the canvas, while around its base the lawns, paths and pools of the Champ de Mars are laid out in flat curving shapes of green, blue and pink, as if seen from the air. Delaunay painted it in 1924, returning to the subject that had made his name between 1909 and 1912, when he painted the tower shattered into fragments. The later version is calmer and brighter, closer to an aerial view, and it uses the lighter colour of his work in the 1920s. The tower remained for him a symbol of modern Paris and of the new age of engineering and flight, the same theme as his Homage to Blériot. The painting is in the Dallas Museum of Art.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
