Smoke and storm clouds roll over the roofs and domes of Paris, with ghostly figures rising out of the darkness, under huge lettering announcing Émile Zola's novel Paris. Théophile Steinlen designed the poster in 1897 for the daily Le Journal, which serialised the novel, the last of Zola's Three Cities. The impression reproduced is in the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
