A crowd of boys, many of them naked, dive, swim, sunbathe and horse about on a ramshackle pier on the East River in New York on a summer evening. Bellows painted it in 1907, while still a student of Robert Henri, and its rough, quick brushwork and unglamorous subject made it a manifesto of the new urban realism. It was long in the Corcoran Gallery of Art and is now in the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.

Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — dark wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
