William Penn and a group of Quakers in broad black hats meet Lenape leaders beneath a great elm at Shackamaxon on the Delaware River, while a merchant kneels to unroll a bolt of cloth and families and new brick houses fill the scene. West, a Pennsylvanian working in London, painted it for Thomas Penn, William Penn's son, about ninety years after the treaty the picture imagines. Engraved and copied endlessly, it became the image of Pennsylvania's founding. It has been at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts since 1878.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.

Size. We'd hang this one at 16×12. Prints at 16×12 in — 16×12 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid.
Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — dark wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
