Snow covers the banks of Horseneck Brook on Twachtman's farm at Greenwich, Connecticut, the water a pale blue-green thread through a world of white. Twachtman bought the farm in 1889 and painted its brook and pool in winter many times, preferring snow, he said, because it gave the landscape a quiet he loved. It is in the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.
Where it works
A soft white-on-white winter brook for a bedroom, bathroom or study in a thin black frame. It suits pale grey, white or soft blue walls and is wonderfully calm.

Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — dark wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
