A giant one-eyed head and shoulders rise above a mountain ridge against a pale blue sky, the single huge eye turned towards the slope where a naked woman lies asleep among flowers. The hillside is a thick patchwork of violet, green, rust and ochre, laid on almost like a field of jewels. The figures are Polyphemus and the nymph Galatea, who did not return the Cyclops's love because she preferred the river god Acis. Redon painted it in oil on cardboard about 1914, though dates as early as 1898 have been proposed. It is in the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
