Christ, in a blue robe, raises his right hand in blessing and holds in his left a crystal orb representing the world, looking straight out from a dark ground. The painting is thought to have been made for Louis XII of France around 1500, passed through the collection of Charles I of England and disappeared, surfacing in 1900 as a damaged workshop picture that sold in 1958 for forty-five pounds. Restored and re-attributed to Leonardo after 2005, it was shown at the National Gallery in London in 2011 and sold at Christie's in 2017 for 450 million dollars, the highest price ever paid for a work of art; its present whereabouts are not public and the attribution, between Leonardo himself and his workshop, is still argued over. The sfumato of the face, the curls and the orb's refraction are the passages most often cited for the master's hand.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.

Size. We'd hang this one at 16×24. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.
Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — black suits the deep tones of this period; natural wood lightens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
