A violin, a piccolo, sheet music, a horseshoe and a calling card hang from hinges on a half-open cupboard door, painted with such precision that the music can be read. Harnett painted it in New York in 1888, at the height of his fame as the master of American trompe-l'oeil. It is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This full-bleed edition prints the work edge to edge from a high-resolution scan of the original, very slightly cropped (a few percent at most) to fit the sheet. The gallery edition shows the whole work, uncropped. The original is in the public domain.
