Adele Bloch-Bauer stands full length and faces us under a wide black hat, wrapped in a long white stole edged in blue over a pale gown with a deep blue sash. Behind her the picture is built in blocks: a raspberry-red frieze of horsemen and figures across the top, a green panel scattered with flowers, lilac strips at the sides and a blue floor of swirls. Klimt painted it in 1912; she is the only person whose portrait he painted twice. Seized by the Nazis, it hung in the Belvedere after the war until 2006, when it was returned to her niece Maria Altmann. It is in a private collection.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.
Where it works
Raspberry, emerald, lilac and blue make a bold, colourful portrait for a living room, dining room or hallway on a white or soft grey wall. Pair it with Klimt's Adele Bloch-Bauer I, hung at 16×24 in a black frame.

Size. We'd hang this one at 16×24. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.
Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — dark wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
