A cream vase with a fine painted pattern holds an airy bouquet of orange-red poppies, blue cornflowers, white daisies and sprays of yellow and white flowers, with long green stems leaning out at the top. The background is a soft blush of pink, peach and apricot that fades into a warm floor. Redon painted it in oil around 1906, after he had given up the black charcoal drawings of his early career for colour. The painting came to the Metropolitan Museum in 1958 as a bequest from Mabel Choate, in memory of her father, Joseph Hodges Choate.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.
