A pale green-white vase on a red tabletop holds a dense bouquet of coral-red blooms, white and lilac clusters, blue sprigs, dark green leaves and two yellow daisies, with a fall of orange petals spilling to the left. The background is a burnished orange and rust, the weave of the canvas showing through. Redon painted it in oil around 1905. The Cleveland Museum of Art, which bought it from Knoedler in New York in 1935, notes that flower still lifes like this brought him his greatest commercial success, and traces his love of plants to his youth near Bordeaux and the botanist Armand Clavaud.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.
