A laughing young woman in a hat throws up her hands as a shower of confetti falls around her, and the word Confetti curls across the top of the sheet. Toulouse-Lautrec designed the poster in 1894 for the London stationers J. & E. Bella, who made paper confetti after the plaster kind was banned at the Paris carnival; it was printed in London by Bella & de Malherbe. The spattered colour (crachis), the loose brush line and the cheerful subject make it one of his lightest posters, and his only one made for an English firm. The impression reproduced belongs to the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec in Albi.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.

Size. We'd hang this one at 12×18. Prints at 12×18, 16×24 in — 12×18 for a shelf, desk or a gallery-wall grid; 16×24 above a desk, console or in a hallway.
Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — dark wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
