A fisherman in a dory with two halibut in the stern looks over his shoulder at a bank of fog rolling in, while his schooner waits far off on the horizon. Homer painted it in 1885 at Prouts Neck, using a local fisherman as model and a dory set up on the beach, as one of a group of pictures about the dangers of the Grand Banks fisheries. It is in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
