Spring trees in pale leaf frame the white marble of the Washington Square Arch in New York, designed by Stanford White, with a street sweeper, carriages and strollers on lower Fifth Avenue. Hassam had returned from Paris in 1889 and settled near the square, and he painted the arch and the avenue in every season. This view is in the Phillips Collection, Washington.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.
