A huge Union Jack and the flags of the Allies hang from the buildings of Fifth Avenue in New York, the street far below busy with traffic. Hassam painted it in 1918 as one of his flag series, during the Fourth Liberty Loan drive, when the avenue was decorated with the flags of all the nations fighting with the United States. It is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
