Misia Natanson, wife of the magazine's publisher Thadée Natanson, skates across the sheet in a dark spotted coat with a fur collar, a huge feathered hat and a muff, the title La revue blanche lettered behind her. Toulouse-Lautrec designed the poster in 1895 for the literary and artistic review that published Proust, Gide, Jarry and the Nabis painters; Misia was its muse and the subject of posters by Bonnard and Vallotton too. The spattered dark blue of the coat and the empty white ground give the figure a tilting, gliding movement. Printed by Ancourt, Paris. The impression reproduced is in the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
This exhibition-poster edition shows the whole work beneath original typography set in-house. The original is in the public domain.
