Four young women in white rest on a grassy hilltop above the sea, one standing and shading her eyes against the wind, the others sitting in the grass, with a wooded island across the blue water and clouds racing overhead. Benson painted it in 1909 at North Haven in Maine, where his wife and daughters were his models every summer, and it is one of the freshest of his hilltop pictures. The Rhode Island School of Design Museum bought it in 1913.
This print reproduces the whole work, uncropped, from a high-resolution scan of the original. The original is in the public domain.
Where it works
A wide, breezy coastal picture in blue, white and golden grass for a living room, above a sofa or in a sunny hallway in a thin black or dark wood frame. It pairs well with Homer's sea pictures and suits a white or pale blue wall.

Framing. The gallery ground is part of the print, so frame it without a mat — dark wood flatters the lighter palette; black sharpens it.
Pairing. Pairs as a set of three with other famous painting prints (10% off three or more).
