Paintings in the Art Institute of Chicago

The Chicago collection, reproduced from the Art Institute's own open-access scans.

4 prints · printed to order on heavyweight matte paper · framed or unframed

The collection

The Art Institute of Chicago was founded in 1879 and moved into its Michigan Avenue building, with the bronze lions at the door, for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Its Impressionist and Post-Impressionist holdings, assembled by Chicago collectors such as Bertha Palmer, are the finest outside Paris, and the museum releases its public-domain images under a Creative Commons Zero licence.

The works here

Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte; Caillebotte's Paris Street, Rainy Day; Cassatt's The Child's Bath; Van Gogh's Self-Portrait of 1887.
